Halo Hunger
AI / Digital Performance
Halo Hunger is a series of AI-generated motion portraits built from the familiar language of TV talent shows. The close-up. The pause. The gasp. The wave. The moment someone is told their life has changed.
Using The Voice as a starting point, the project creates an intergalactic parade of winners. They smile, cry, blow kisses and perform success perfectly. But there is no journey behind it. No biography. No struggle. Just the image of winning, ready to circulate.
That is the bit I am interested in. These characters are built for the same systems we are. To be seen, ranked, shared, looped and liked. Their emotions feel real enough, but they are also doing a job. They hold attention.
Halo Hunger plays with a culture where looking successful can start to matter more than what success actually means. AI makes that strange tension even sharper. It can generate the face, the feeling and the fantasy instantly.
The work asks a simple question: when we applaud the winner, what are we really responding to? The person, the performance, or the system that knows exactly what a winning image should look like?
